On August 1, 2002 Officer Melissa Schmidt was shot and killed as she checked the report of a person armed with a gun. She proudly served the citizens of Minneapolis as a police officer and prior to becoming an officer she served her country in the United States Marine Corp.
The Minnesota Association of Women Police is holding a charitable golf tournament in Melissa's memory. The proceeds of the tournament benefit two scholarship funds in Melissa's name.
Uptown Natural Care Center is proud to be a sponsor of this event. The golf tournament takes place on Wednesday, August 4th. The staff of our clinic will be on hand at the tournament to do massages, foot scans, and posture screens for the participants. Along with this, leading up to the tournament date, Uptown Natural Care Center is having a "Putting Challenge" in the clinic waiting room where patients can attempt 3 puts for $5 to get their name into a drawing for lots of great prizes. All the money will be donated to the Melissa Schmidt scholarship fund.
