Flu season is upon us! At Uptown Natural Care Center we are recommending everyone to get enough Vitamin D to help keep the flu away. Studies have shown it to be even more effective than the flu vaccine in preventing the flu in school children. Vitamin D is the "it" vitamin at that moment because it has recently been studied many times over for all sorts of health problems and has many claims of what it can do. Otherwise healthy adults should be consuming between 2,000 IU and 4,000 IU or more to maintain healthy levels which help prevent the flu and other upper respiratory illnesses common during the winter. Ask your doctor about any questions you have about what amount is right for you. There is a blood test that can determine this as well.
